Public education isn’t what it used to be. From complex student needs to tailored teaching, the expectations and responsibilities of public education have changed, it’s time for the conditions of public educators to catch up.
Every child deserves a great education. Every day, teachers, leaders, preschool educators, and support staff work hard to make that happen. Unfortunately, they're getting bogged down in administration, staffing is stretched thin, and we're losing amazing teachers and support staff from preschools and schools every day due to unsustainable workloads.
Protecting a child's right to a great education means keeping great educators in the profession and focused on their core work - helping students learn and thrive. That starts with salaries that reflect the importance of the work, restoring work-life balance for educators, and increasing staffing and support to meet the growing behavioural and learning complexities of modern kids.
That's why we, the undersigned teachers, leaders, preschool educators, and support staff working in South Australia's public schools and preschools, call on the Education Minister, Lucy Hood MP, and the South Australian Government to deliver an enterprise agreement that prioritises:
