Australians agree that every child should have access to quality education. Yet, educators are burdened with excessive administrative duties, staffing shortages, and the departure of skilled teachers due to unsustainable workloads. To uphold a child's right to excellent education, it's crucial to retain committed educators and enable them to concentrate on their main role—facilitating student learning and success. This starts with fair salaries, restoring work-life balance, and boosting staffing and support to meet the diverse needs of today's students.
An essential part of securing the changes we need in public education is community support. The more voters demand action, the more compelled government is to act.
There are a few key ways to amplify the voice of public educators over the coming months.
1. Sign the petition
2. Talk to your community
You’re a trusted member of your community. Having conversations about why educators are bargaining, what educators are asking for, and why how these changes will help all South Australians is powerful. Lots of people don’t know what enterprise bargaining is, let alone what a huge impact one agreement can have for kids and the whole community.
Tell your friends and family why you’re supporting the campaign and encourage them to do the same. If you’re part of a collective group, like a choir, a book club, or a faith group – why not start a conversation about how the whole group can show support.
3. Show your support online
4.Email your local MP
Let your local member know you support a strong new enterprise agreement for public educators. Your email doesn’t need to be long or complicated, just jot down why you support the campaign and ask your local member to respond.
